Why is there no B drive in the computer? Where is the AB drive in the computer?

Time:2020-02-21Popular: Author: Editor

Computer drive A and drive B are removable floppy disks with very small capacity. They functioned as hard drives at a time when computers did not have hard drives. When the computer had a C drive, especially a USB flash drive, it gradually replaced the floppy disk. Similarly, when large-capacity mobile hard drives became available, they gradually replaced optical disks.

Why does the computer not have a B drive?

The B drive was used to mark the five-inch disk drive a long time ago.

But that era was very early, and only hardcore computer users like us experienced it. It was a blue floppy disk, very thin, a bit like a record. Unfortunately, I don’t have the actual object in hand right now, so I can’t post photos. That kind of disk memory was no longer used after 1996, and the B drive was no longer installed during installation.

However, the habit of setting drive letters has been preserved to this day. Therefore, the system disk of current home computers is usually C disk. It is not that there are no A and B, but after technological changes and advancements, three-inch disks and five-inch disks have been eliminated.

Where is the computer drive AB?

Let’s open your computer now. At first, there is only the C drive. You can't find drive A and drive B at all? What's going on? Don’t drive A and drive B exist? With this question, let’s talk about it together.

Actually, the computer has A drive and B drive: but their names are not hard disks, they are called floppy disk drives. In the earliest computer era, hard disks had not yet appeared. Instead, floppy disks were the most important storage media. They corresponded to A drive and B drive respectively.

Drive A is usually a 3.5-inch floppy disk, and drive B is a 5.25-inch floppy disk. Therefore, you can find that as we are developing day by day, because we have to consider leaving drive letters for drive A and drive B, the order goes to drive C. Their disappearance is mainly because the space of floppy disks is too small: the capacity of 3.5-inch floppy disks is only 1.44MB, and the capacity of 5.25-inch floppy disks is only 1.2MB.

You can find that in the beginning, because the 5.25-inch B drive was relatively large and had smaller memory than the A drive, in the 1990s, the 3.5-inch A drive still survived for a while, but the B drive disappeared earlier.

However, with the widespread use of rewritable optical discs, recorders, U disks, etc., A disk is becoming less and less suitable for our use, and now A disk has become history.

To sum up: their disappearance is only caused by the advancement of technology!

How to clean up the computer C drive when it is full

After reinstalling the system, use shadow Defender just needs to be locked. Just like Internet cafes, disconnect from the Internet for optimization or upgrade before maintenance. The premise is that after installing the system, you need to perform system optimization and then lock it. If the system disk is full, there is no way to clean it. Back up the data and reinstall it, or use ghost to back it up. The system disk can have up to 30G of space, which is more than enough! ! !
